Being 100% ready and motivated when committing to it. Don't start until you are physically and mentally ready. But it won't change the issues outside of the territory. Don't expect things that were a problem before to be fixed by losing weight. Having a support system. You need your family to support, not sabotage, your efforts. In addition, it provides professional support - whether a personal trainer, nutritionist, doctor, counselor or psychologist will help depending on your needs. I also had other support. My coach has kept me motivated and committed when it comes to lifting weights. Now I can even draw. And one more unlikely support - Lululemon .
Our local store opened in August. The team there was supportive, encouraging Industry Email List and encouraging. I often participate in in-store yoga and this summer I'm even training at the community-based Stand Up Paddle Board Yoga sponsored by them. I also belong to a number of Lululemon Facebook groups with women from all over the world, and we push each other not just to shop more, but also for health, nutrition, and exercise. I log everything I eat and drink - 365 days a year. P's. Patience and endurance. Every time I tried a diet or exercise program, I gave up. It was too slow or hard or limited. This time I used my determination to get through – I worked hard and ate smaller portions and healthier meals.
I already knew I wasn't going to lose weight overnight. It took me a while to lose it. Patience was key - half a pound to two pounds a week is a healthy weight, and that didn't mean I shouldn't expect the pounds to melt off within a month or two. It took me 10 months to reach my goal weight and for the last two months I have been following a new path with maintenance. Changing the way I think about food , as something that nourishes me, as opposed to satisfying an emotional need. Changing the way I move , as I now dream of new activities and challenges. I love trying "new things" from yoga, which is now a part of my life, to rowing, hiking, and even inline skating and rock climbing with my girls.
